Prime Minister meets the Francophony Secretary General’s Delegation |

On 21/10/2009, the Right Honorable Prime Minister Bernard MAKUZA received in his office Mr. Jean Louis (former Secretary General for Francophony Technical and Cultural Cooperation of Francophony) and Mr. Ousmane (Special Advisory of the Francophony Secretary General). In this meeting views were exchanged on various areas in which the Francophone Cooperation Department could participate in Rwanda’s development process. The Prime Minister welcomed their suggestions but also emphasized that there was need to focus on Rwanda’s own priorities such as investing in areas like ICT, sustainable environment, national culture, and other similar sectors. He also explained to the Francophony delegation Rwanda’s expectations in joining the Commonwealth but also remaining in the francophone community, as expanding the country’s interest opportunities. |

This Friday 02 October 2009, Prime Minister Bernard Makuza received in his Office the Algerian Ambassador to Rwanda HE Aziria Abdelkader. This was a courtesy call and at the same time a farewell visit since the Ambassador Abdelkader is at the end of his mission of 5 years as Ambassador of Algeria to Rwanda, to Burundi and to Uganda. During the talks, the Prime Minister and the Ambassador of Algeria exchanged views on bilateral relations and some issues related to continental and international socio-economic maters as well as peace and security issues. |

On 28th September 2009, Right Honourable Prime Minister, Bernard Makuza received in his Office the Polish Foreign Affairs Minister Radoslaw Sikorski who was in the country to officially inaugurate a centre for blind children in Kibeho which was built with aid from Poland. Discussions between both leaders focused on promoting relations between Rwanda and Poland. Honourable Sikorski said he was proud of Rwanda’s success especially in reconciliation and promised to help convince EU member countries hosting genocide perpetrators to arrest and prosecute them. |
