Prime Minister Bernard MAKUZA visits King Faisal Hospital PDF Print E-mail

 On 19 July 2009, Right Honourable Prime Minister Bernard MAKUZA visited the King Faisal Hospital and especially met patients who had sight problems but were operated upon by American doctors from UTAH University to help in the “Army Week”. These patients were given eye medical care, including 21 cornea transplants and 126 cataract cases.

 On 18 July 2009, Right Honourable Prime Minister Bernard MAKUZA welcomed to his Office Prof. Geoffrey TABIN, an expert in Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of UTAH (USA) together with a team of eye experts who came to Rwanda to lend a helping hand in operating, during the “Army Week” session, patients with sight problems.

 From 15 to 16 July 2009, Right Honourable Prime Minister Bernard MAKUZA toured Nyabihu District in Northern Province. He first went into a flying tour of the Gishwati area in helicopter   on 14 July 2009 and then land toured the area on 15 July 2009, when himself together with his flanking Ministers, Governor and District Mayors assessed how seriously damaged is the Gishwati Forest.

This same topic was discussed in a joint meeting of the Prime Minister with the local population including Ministers, Members of Parliament, Governor, district leaders and council, women and youth representatives, Army and Police area chiefs and other opinion leaders. This same topic was later on subject of discussion with the same people together with residents of Jenda, Kabatwa and Mukamira sectors.
