Rwanda’s Premier visits Musanze District PDF Print E-mail

From 16 to 18 September 2009, Prime Minister, MAKUZA Bernard visited Musanze District. After joining local residents of Kimonyi Sector in the campaign to quicken construction of classrooms, the Premier visited the Susa grouped settlement in Muhoza Sector. This settlement is home to 57 Rwandan households of all walks: genocide survivors, returnees from Tanzania, historically marginalized groups and demobilized soldiers. Premier MAKUZA commended them for their peaceful coexistence and requested authorities to help them get access to electricity.

The Prime Minister also visited Uwamusindi Eugène, a farmer in Cyuve Sector, who managed to use the support worth Rwf 120,000 he received upon being demobilized in 2002. He started from poultry farming to cow farming and has now improved his living conditions as he states that his present assets average RwF 18,000,000. The Premier congratulated this farmer who has just bought a plot of land of 2 Ha, erected two (2) houses, uses biogas from such little support. Premier qualified this as one good example of possible change made in rural areas and insisted on this change upon his visit to Mr. DUHUNGIREHE Pelgrin of Remera Sector. DUHUNGIREHE is a 24-year old man who started with Rwf 50,000 to buy a sewing machine and now owns a sewing workshop employing 18 workers whom he trained himself.

In his tour, Premier also visited Construction Solution Ltd, a factory manufacturing construction materials such as cement blocks, paving blocks, culverts and claustras and now plans to manufacture tiles. Premier also visited Imbaraga, an umbrella association of cooperatives, fish ponds in Remera Sector, Ryandazi School and ICYEREKEZO SACCO. In his tour, the Prime Minister launched the Community Radio Station at Musanze and inaugurated a newly constructed health centre in Gashaki Sector. He further chaired a meeting with Musanze District local authorities and residents of Remera, Rwaza and Gashaki Sectors. On all these occasions, the Prime Minister encouraged people, leaders and various categories of stakeholders to value hard work so as to achieve their own development and to give priority to the interest of the people and the country at large.
