Prime Minister officially closed the High Level Post Compact Stakeholder Meeting PDF Print E-mail

On 8th December 2009 the Right Honourable Prime Minister of Rwanda Bernard MAKUZA officially closed the High Level Post Compact Stakeholder Meeting on Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP). He recalled how in the opening ceremony His Excellency Paul KAGAME, urged the participants on how Africa is having a challenge in agriculture transformation.

In to recommit herself to the CAADP process, Rwandan pillars of agriculture must be the following:

- Extending area under sustainable land management,

- Improve rural infrastructure and trade related capacities for greater market access,

- Increase food supply, reduce hunger and expand agricultural research,

- Technology dissemination and adoption.

The success of agricultural transformation and its value addition will depend on the Tri-partite collaboration between Government, Business Community and Civil Society. The Prime Minister revealed that Rwanda has set clear target of leveraging financing to partly cover the investment gap which will start in April 2010.

The Prime Minister expressed that “Together, we can not only eradicate hunger, but also increase crop production and improve its value through transformation”.
