Turkish Deputy PM ATALAY makes a courtesy call to Rwanda PM

On 3rd July 2012, the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Pierre Damien HABUMUREMYI received in his office Besir Atalay, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkey who was on a one day visit in the country.

Prime Minister discussed with Besir Atalay the bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation between Rwanda and Turkey.

“I am happy to be here in your capital Kigali and I congratulate you for the success you have achieved because everything is organized here” said Besir Atalay Turkish, Deputy Prime Minister.

“Infrastructure can be the main sector of Turkish investment in Rwanda because Turkey has a big number of good and professional investors worldwide” said Besir Atalay

Deputy Prime Minister Atalay said that bilateral relations between the two countries will be strengthened among others, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that was signed between him and Minister MUSHIKIWABO Rwanda’s Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

One way forward is to open a Rwanda Embassy in Ankara and a Turkish Embassy in Kigali says the memo.

Besides the signed MoU, Turkish Airlines started a 4 flight per schedule from Ankara to Kigali which aims at attracting Turkish investors’ interest in Rwanda.
