PRIME MINISTER NSENGIYUMVA CARRIED OUT A WORKING VISIT IN THE EASTERN PROVINCE

Kirehe and Nyagatare, 08-09 August 2025---Prime Minister, Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva, held a two-day working visit in the Eastern Province. The visit aimed at assessing how various Government key projects especially in agriculture and industry sector are being implemented.

In Kirehe District, Prime Minister visited the Nasho Solar-powered Irrigation Project, and interacted with some beneficiaries of the pivot irrigation systems grouped into Nasho Irrigation Cooperative (NAICO).

The Premier requested these farmers to leverage this technology and increase productivity. He also encouraged the youth to actively engage in agricultural activities.

In Nyagatare District, Prime Minister toured the Inyange Powder Milk Plant and explored the facility’s cutting-edge, tech-driven production and packaging processes. Later in the afternoon, he visited East African Granite Industries to observe the granite tile manufacturing operations.

He commended the quality of both companies’ products and encouraged them to boost their productivity to unlock greater opportunities in both local and international markets.

On the second day of his visit, Prime Minister Dr. Nsengiyumva toured the Gabiro Agri-Business Hub, a farming project that aims to de-risk agriculture and tackle food insecurity through advanced irrigated systems for commercial farming.

While touring the Gabiro Agri Business Hub, Prime Minister visited some farms operating within the hub, including Kinvest and EA Agro Farms.

He concluded his tour visiting the Rwabiharamba Integrated Development Model Village, home to 120 families who previously lived in areas now transformed into farmland within the Gabiro Agri-Business Hub.
