“Countering financial crimes should be your priority.” PM Murekezi
Kigali, 10th July 2017
Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi urged Prosecutors to give priority to countering financial crimes such as corruption and money laundering.
He made the remarks while officiating at the swearing-in ceremony of two prosecutors on Monday afternoon at his office.
The Prime Minister commended them to especially deal with domestic crimes like homicides as well as child defilement, which may result in unwanted pregnancies.
He reminded the newly sworn-in prosecutors that prosecution is a highly demanding job, which entails challenging functions of ensuring human rights are respected.
“Work as part of an effective team to successfully deliver justice, transcending boundaries to work together with your counterparts at the regional and international arena” Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi said.
The Prime Minister promised prosecutors that the Government of Rwanda will continue to fully support them in order to facilitate them accomplish their responsibilities.
The newly sworn-in prosecutors are Mr. Rudasumbwa Didier and Ms. Kayitesi Claudine, Prosecutor at Intermidiate Level and Prosecutor at Primary Level, respectively who were appointed by Cabinet in May.
