India Africa ICT Expo 2019 kicks off in Kigali

Kigali, 5th August 2019

The India-Africa ICT Expo 2019 kicks off on Monday under the theme “Accelerating Africa's Digital Transformation Agenda”.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of this two-days ICT Expo at Kigali Convention Centre, Prime Minister Dr Ngirente Edouard said that Africa has given priority to ICT to achieve full digital transformation such as affordable and reliable connectivity for all and smart devices penetration.

He pointed out that India is one of the model countries of how technology has radically transformed every aspect of the economy and lives of people.

“As we consolidate efforts in the drive to accelerate the digital transformation, we aim to leverage on partnerships with India, and utilize this as a platform to increase collaboration between our public and private sectors.” Prime Minister said.

The Premier added that this collaboration will expand the size of markets, share innovations, technologies, solutions and business models that will benefit all of us.

Dr Ngirente noted that with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in effect, Africa becomes the largest free trade area in the world and that this will provide access to a wider market that will boost intra-Africa trade.

This ICT Expo brought together various key players in the ICT sector to showcase cutting-edge digital solutions; especially in e-agriculture, e-health, e-education, and e-governance as well as other backbone infrastructure connectivity.
