Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, the Speaker of People's Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Maldives paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister

The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Ngirente Edouard received in audience Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, who is the Former President of the Republic of Maldives and the incumbent Speaker of People's Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Maldives.
Mr. Mohamed Nasheed who is in the country while Rwanda celebrates its 25th anniversary of Liberation, has commended the achievements of the Republic of Rwanda in its development journey.
Their discussions focused on how partnership and friendship between the two countries can be strengthened. They also agreed that both countries will exchange envoys to further advance trade and culture as well as learning from each other in different fields.
The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Ngirente reiterated the commitment of the Government of Rwanda to keep on cooperating with the Republic of Maldives in various sectors. In this regard, the Premier focused on promotion of education programs, especially Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, has also confirmed that the Republic of Maldives will attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) that will take place in Rwanda in 2020.
