Nyamagabe and Huye, 24th -25th September 2018 - Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente, on Monday and Tuesday carried out a two-day working visit in the Southern Province. 

The tour aimed at monitoring government programs and policies’ implementation and improving coordination among government institutions.

On the first day he visited Nyamagabe District. He started by touring Mwogo TVET school.  From there he joined Kamegeri farmers in the launch of the 2019 agricultural season A in the 57-hectares Mwogo marshland. 

He then visited Bwama Primary School and “Isoko y’ubukire” Cooperative practicing poultry, fishing and Mulberry farming in Kamegeri sector, Nyamagabe District, Kigeme District Hospital and later on toured a building that will host Gasaka modern market under construction in Nyamagabe town.

On his second and last day, the Premier visited Huye District: RAB Research Centre in Rubona, Huye District; Sovu Health Centre; Kabutare District Hospital; Idle Commercial buildings in Huye City and Rwabayanga area; LABOPHAR + IRST/NIRDA and UR Huye Campus. 

At the end of each day, a debrief meeting with key government officials was convened at the district headquarters. The purpose was to discuss on the raised and observed issues and agree on a way forward. In Huye specifically, discussions focused on how to revitalize the Huye City.
