PM Ngirente and UR Chancellor held talks on quality of education

Kigali, 7th August 2019

This Wednesday at his office in Kigali, Prime Minister Dr Ngirente Edouard has met with Ms. Patricia L. Campbell, the Chancellor of the University of Rwanda.

Their discussions focused on the policy of education in Rwanda and on how to improve the quality of education especially in the University of Rwanda.

Speaking about the education policy in Rwanda, Prime Minister noted that Rwanda has managed to send almost all the children to school since the school enrolment is now at 98% and that the aim is to educate every single citizen of the country.

The Government of Rwanda has decided to combine all seven higher learning public institutions or colleges to enable the University’s good performance in terms of quality of education and management of public funds.

“We need to train students with a high quality of education since the University of Rwanda sends out many graduates in various sectors that play a big role in the development of the country.” Prime Minister said.

Ms Patricia L. Campbell who has replaced Dr Mike O’Neal is also the Chief administrative officer and Vice president of Tufts University and was appointed by an extraordinary Cabinet meeting which was held on Friday 14th September 2018, chaired by President Paul Kagame.
