PM Ngirente attended the ordination ceremony of the new Bishop of Kabgayi Catholic Diocese
Kabgayi, June 17, 2023- On behalf of President Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente attended the ordination ceremony of His Excellency Monsignor Balthazar Ntivuguruzwa, the new Bishop of Kabgayi Catholic Diocese.
While addressing the congregation, Prime Minister commended the role that Faith-based Organizations, including the Catholic Church have played in promoting peace, resilience and development of Rwanda.
The Premier also acknowledged the Church support for disaster-affected families and expressed gratitude for the assistance so far provided.
He encouraged citizens living in high-risk zones to relocate to safer areas and abide by government regulations on proper housing.
Prime Minister also congratulated the retired Bishop Smaragde Mbonyintege and commended his leadership and accomplishments, particularly in the education and health sectors. He requested new Bishop Balthazar Ntivuguruzwa to follow suit of his predecessor.
He reiterated the Government of Rwanda’s support for the new Bishop in fulfilling his duties as entrusted to him by Pope Francis.
