PM Ngirente calls citizens to report corruption

“While we are proud of the strides taken to fight against corruption, we have not reached where we want to be, there are some institution where corruption is prevalent even though it is not too much. There are also citizens who are not willing to report corruption.” The Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente said this, while presiding over the celebration of the International Anti-Corruption Day held in Kigali under the theme "Your Role is Vital in eradicating Corruption"
“Celebrating the International Anti-Corruption is a good opportunity for nationals to reflect on how far they have come in implementing measures to tackle corruption and together look at existing challenges.” PM Ngirente said.
According to a report released by corruption watchdog Transparency International Rwanda in June this year, utility sectors of water and electricity recorded the highest incidences of corruption with 18.1 per cent from 2.5 per cent in 2014, followed by police with 15 per cent.
The Premier also said that corruption takes away 10% of national budgets worldwide emphasizing the need to fight it in every way possible for development.
