PM Ngirente calls for churches’ role in impoving poples’ lives

Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente has urged Faith-Based Organizations to scale up their partneship with the Government of Rwanda for a better implementation of the National Strategy for Transformation NST1 (2017-2024)
He made the above statement yesterday 9th June, 2018 at the Kigali Independent University (ULK) stadium during the enthronement of Rev. Dr. Laurent Mbanda as the new Archbishop of Anglican Church of Rwanda.
Some of the areas that the Government of Rwanda wants churches to contribute more include:
“sensitising their members to increase their participation in all economic activities that aim at improving their social walfare such as increasing productions on whatever they do (in modern agriculture; in developing the culture of saving; working with banks and Sacco; venture into income generating projects especially for youth who are the future leaders of tomorrow,” Prime Minister said.
“The Government also wants churches to support in relocating people who live in high risk zones; ensure that all children attend schools and do not drop out; have access to health insurance; improved hygiene in their residences and churches, as we believe Rwandans deserve to pray in smart churches ;and taking care of existing infrastruture owned both by the Government or churches themselves,” He added.
Dr. Laurent Mbanda who was enthroned to be the Anglican Church Archbishop in Rwanda replaces Onesphore Rwaje who has turned 65 years.
