PM Ngirente discusses developmental projects with Hafez Ghanem, World Bank Vice President for Africa

Kigali, May 16, 2019:

Today the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Ngirente Edouard received in audience Mr. Hafez Ghanem, World Bank Group Vice President for Africa.

Their discussions focused on how to strengthen existing partnership between the World Bank and the Republic of Rwanda, especially in transformational sectors like energy, agriculture, transport, urbanization and human capital (Education and nutrition).

The Prime Minister thanked Mr. Hafez Ghanem for having attended the Transform Africa Summit 2019. He particularly thanked the World Bank for its close partnership and cooperation with the Government of Rwanda in implementing, the Stunting Prevention and Reduction Project. He thanked the World bank as well for speeding up the process of approving the two agreements which were signed today between Rwanda and the World Bank (Socio-Economic Inclusion of Refugees Project worth US$ 60 Million and additional financing to PSTA4 Program for Results Phase II)

During this audience, the two leaders discussed and agreed on how to fast-track different projects in pipeline (financing the Rwanda’s vision for a better education, making agriculture more resilient to climate change, urbanization, and more)

The Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Ngirente commended the World Bank cooperation with Rwanda and reiterated the commitment of the Government of Rwanda to further strengthen this cooperation.
