PM Ngirente hosts a reception to celebrate the Tour du Rwanda completion
Kigali, 19 November 2017 - The Premier hosted a reception, organized by the Government of Rwanda, to celebrate the successful completion of the 9th Edition of the “Tour du Rwanda at Kigali Convention Centre.
In his remarks, The Prime Minister Edouard Ngirente reiterated the Government of Rwanda continued support to the development of cycling in Rwanda with the aim of positioning Rwanda as a top cycling destination.
“A competition like Tour du Rwanda is in line with the Seven Year Program of the Government of Rwanda (2017-2024) that seeks to make Rwanda a world class and high-end ecotourism destination” said the Prime Minister.
He congratulated riders and their coaches for their sacrifices in touring the thousand hills of Rwanda; adding that for any team to succeed and reach a common goal, cooperating well with others, helping each other, and taking responsibility for actions, for the better of the whole team, is necessary in life outside of sports.
This year’s “Tour du Rwanda” attracted a total of 250 participants including 15 teams numbering a total of 73 riders and team officials from 18 nations.
In general classification of “Tour du Rwanda” 2017, three Rwandans emerged among the top 5 cyclists with Areruya Joseph as the overall winner.
