PM Ngirente urged African Youth to be at the centre of transformation
Kigali on 08 October 2018: Rt. Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente called on the youth of Africa to be at the centre of the transformation of African continent. He made the remark today while officiating the 2018 YouthConnekt Africa Summit that took place in Kigali Convention.
“African Youth should be at the centre of transformation that our continent deserves and is committed to achieve. About 70% of Africa’s population is under the age of 30. With Africa’s population projected to double by 2050, we are the youngest continent. Therefore, any plan for improving the future of Africa, must factor in the role of young people.” Prime Minister said.
The Premier reminded African youth who attended this year’s Summit from all over the continent that opportunities are everywhere around them. He advised them that the only way to take advantage of these opportunities is to boldly go after them.
The 2018 YouthConnekt Africa Summit was attended by more than 2500 youth from … countries. It jointly organised by the Government of Rwanda, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, the UN Volunteers, UN Women and other stakeholders.
