Premier Ngirente receives the Executive Director for IMF Africa Group II
Kigali, 23rd July 2019
Prime Minister Dr Ngirente Edouard received Dr Mohamed-Lemine Raghani, Executive Director for IMF Africa Group II Constituency, representing Rwanda and other 23 African countries to the International Monetary Fund.
Their discussions focused on the bilateral relation between Rwanda and IMF and the programs that are supported by this International Monetary Fund.
The projects funded by IMF include the Policy Support Instrument, the Standby Credit Facility that Rwanda benefited in the past 10 years and the recently signed Three Year Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI) 2019-2022.
This program approved by the Executive Board of the IMF on June 28th 2019 aims at supporting the country’s implementation of the National Strategy for Transformation (NST1) through an eased fiscal stance allowing for more spending on priority investment and additional resources mobilisation while also maintaining external and debt sustainability.
This PCI (2019-2022) mainly consists of four main pillars that include recalibrating fiscal objectives and medium-term fiscal stances, bolstering domestic revenues over the medium term, improving financial management and supporting the new monetary policy framework.
