Prime Minister attended the 58th Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group
Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, May 23, 2023---On behalf of President Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente attended the 58th Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group, taking place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt from 22-26 May 2023.
After the opening ceremony, Prime Minister participated in a High-level presidential dialogue under the theme “The changing Global Financial Architecture and the Role of Multilateral Development Banks”.
During this dialogue, the Premier highlighted the importance of mobilizing concessional financing and attracting private investments.
He further revealed that governments need public money in concessional financing to de-risk some key sectors for the private sector to safely invest in them.
Prime Minister also insisted on the need to increase African Development Bank financial muscle so that it can finance a big part of Africa’s development challenges.
He called upon African countries with competiting needs, to reconcile their targets in terms of development with the funding in order to fix external shocks over which we don’t have control.
Prime Minister concluded his intervention by inviting participants to further promote the South-South cooperation and assist each other to achieve development goals.
