PRIME MINISTER ATTENDED THE THANKSGIVING MASS FOR FOR POPE LEO XIV
Kigali, May 11, 2025---On behalf of His Excellency President Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente joined Rwanda's Catholic community at Kigali’s Regina Pacis Parish for a Thanksgiving Mass honoring the new Pope Leo XIV.
While addressing the congregation, Prime Minister revealed that the Rwandan government has welcomed the election of the new pope and wished him success in his new mission.
Prime Minister also expressed his optimism that the new Pope will continue in the footsteps of his predecessor late Pope Francis who played a key role in restoring good relations between Rwanda and the Holy See.
The Premier echoed the message of peace as announced by Pope Leo XIV and insisted that peace should reign in our families and communities as the basis for social cohesion and development.
He concluded his address by calling upon the Christians to support Pope Leo XIV in discharging his new responsibilities. He also commended the Catholic church as a valuable partner to the Government and committed to further strengthen the existing collaboration.
