Prime Minister inaugurated the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund
Kinigi, June 07, 2022- On behalf of President Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente officiated the dedication ceremony of the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, located in Kinigi, Musanze District.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister thanked Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, for their dedication to Rwanda and their long-term passion for the conservation of the mountain gorillas and for continuing the remarkable work of Dian Fossey.
The Premier emphasised that conservation is the foundation for Rwanda's tourism strategy and remains at the heart of our priorities.
He recognized the hard work of passionate conservationists in protecting the mountain gorillas and noted that this campus is a new chapter that opens the doors for several partners and stakeholders to join hands in the conservation of mountain gorillas.
Prime Minister noted that this campus will not only play a key role in carrying on Dian’s legacy but also ensure a bright future for the mountain gorillas and build a thriving community of scientists and conservationists.
