PRIME MINISTER OFFICIALLY INAUGURATED THE NEW SKOL PACKAGING LINE

Kigali, January 29, 2019: The Right. Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente today, on behalf of H.E Kagame Paul, the President of the Republic of Rwanda, officially inaugurated the new Skol packaging line.

The Prime Minister started his remarks by stressing the importance of this new Skol packaging: “This inauguration is an important milestone for Skol as a company, and for current and potential customers of Skol as the new packaging line will help Skol Brewery to double its bottling capacity, increase exports to neighboring countries.”

The Prime Minister further commended this initiative as it is in line with the National Strategy for Transformation, 2017-2024 whereby Rwanda aims at promoting industrialization and attaining a structural shift in the export base to high-value goods and services with the goal of growing exports by 17% annually.

The Prime Minister also revealed that the Government of Rwanda initiated the Made in Rwanda Campaign which aims at shifting mindsets towards local consumption, and promoting local industries.

Given the conducive business environment in Rwanda, as indicated by the 2019 World Bank Doing Business report which ranked Rwanda as the second easiest country in Africa and the 29th in the world, the Premier called upon all investors to take advantage of this opportunity and invest in Rwanda.

The Premier concluded his remarks by acknowledging UNIBRA for its investment in Rwanda and encouraging them to keep the momentum in their activities.
