Prime Minister officially launched the report of the 7th Integrated Household Living Conditions Survey (EICV7)

Kigali, April 16, 2025---Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente presided over the official launch of the report of the 7th Integrated Household Living Conditions Survey (EICV7) in a ceremony held at Kigali Convention Center.

In his address, the Prime Minister emphasized three key indicators that strongly reflect the improvement in the well-being of Rwandans.

These include the poverty rate, which decreased from 39.8% in 2017 to 27.4% in 2024, extreme poverty, which dropped from 11.3% to 5.4%, and the fact that 1.5 million Rwandans have been lifted out of poverty.

He noted that these positive results were largely driven by strategic investments made by the Government of Rwanda and its partners over the past seven years.

The Prime Minister further highlighted the strong correlation between increased household consumption and economic growth, emphasizing that this reflects a steady improvement in income levels, employment opportunities, and social welfare initiatives.

He also stressed that, despite the significant achievements recorded over the past seven years, much remains to be done for Rwanda to become a poverty-free nation.

In this regard, he affirmed that the Government will continue to ensure sustained investment in key sectors to further improve the quality of life for Rwandans.

He concluded his address by urging policymakers, researchers, civil society, the private sector, and development partners to make good use of the findings from the EICV7.
