PRIME MINISTER OFFICIALLY OPENED THE 13TH AVIATION STAKEHOLDERS CONVENTION

Kigali, May 12, 2025--- Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente officially opened the 2025 African Airlines Association (AFRAA) 13th Aviation Stakeholders Convention, taking place at Kigali Convention Center.

In his remarks, Prime Minister started by commending the progress made by RwandAir in connecting Africa to the World. He revealed that it is one of the fastest-growing airlines serving 107 destinations.

He appreciated RwandAir role in inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals whereby this year alone, RwandAir received nearly 2,000 applications for its pilot cadet program. 

The Premier insisted that Rwanda’s ambition is to become a regional and global hub for connectivity, trade, and innovation. 

In this regard, he revealed that the ongoing investment in aviation infrastructure such as the expansion of Kigali International Airport, the construction the New Kigali International Airport as well as the improvement of cargo and logistics handling. 

Prime Minister emphasized that Rwanda champions continental initiatives like the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). 

He noted the importance of integrated African airspace in lowering costs, improving competition, and unlocking economic opportunities across the continent.

He ended by stressing that sustained investment, innovation, and cooperation are key drivers to fuel the transformation of our continent.
