Prime Minister officiated the 20th celebration of Taxpayers Appreciation Day

Kigali, November 19, 2022: On behalf of the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente officiated the 20th celebration of Taxpayers Appreciation Day. 

The ceremony to mark this day took place at the Kigali Convention Centre and coincided with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Rwanda Revenue Authority. 

Prime Minister commended all taxpayers who were not deterred by the Covid-19 pandemic and continued to fulfill their duties of appropriately paying their taxes on timely basis. 

He noted  that the increase of taxes is the result of various measures put in place by the Government of Rwanda to facilitate the business and investment promotion. 

The Premier highlighted some of the strategies adopted by the Government of Rwanda to support businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In this regard, he focused on the Manufacture and Build to Recover Program (MBRP) and encouraged investors to leverage various incentives offered by the Government in this program. 

Prime Minister encouraged registered businesses to make good use of Electronic Billing Machines (EBM), and  also called on consumers to always demand for receipts. 

He concluded his remarks by reiterating the commitment of the Government to strengthening its partnership with the private sector for their businesses to thrive.
