Prime Minister officiated the celebration of the National Umuganura Day

Rulindo, August 05, 2022- Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente joined residents of Rulindo District in the celebration of the National Umuganura Day  2022.

In his address, Prime Minister reminded residents that Umuganura celebration is not only about agriculture harvest but also an occasion to celebrate different achievements that the country has made across various sectors of the economy.

The Premier further noted that all those achievements were possible thanks to continuous cooperation between the Government, the private sector and all Rwandans in general. He particularly appreciated the contribution of agriculture in ensuring food security.

Prime Minister also highlighted key interventions needed to increase the agricultural production and promote the wellbeing of Rwandans.

He urged farmers to leverage on optimal use of all arable land and protect land by forming radical and progressive terraces.

Prime Minister encouraged Rwandans to make compost manure, plant at least three fruit trees and vegetables in their kitchen gardens. He noted that this will not only play an important role in providing organic fertilizer and fighting malnutrition but also can generate income for the household.

In this regard, he tasked those in charge of agriculture from the District to the Cell level to follow up on this and ensure its effective implementation.

He concluded his speech by encouraging farmers to actively prepare for the Agricultural Season A2023, and indicated that the Government will ensure that agricultural inputs are available and distributed to farmers in time.
