Prime Minister presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Prosecutors at the Primary Level

Kigali, October 31st, 2018:

The Right Honorable Prime Minister, Dr. Edouard Ngirente, presided over the swearing-in ceremony of Mrs. Janvière MUKARUSAGARA and Mrs. Clarisse UWITONZE, who were appointed by the Cabinet Meeting of July 11th, 2018, as Prosecutors at the Primary Level.

After taking their oaths, the Right Honorable Prime Minister congratulated the two prosecutors and urged them to execute their new assignments with commitment and diligence. He gave them various advice for the better fulfillment of their duties. 

Some of his pieces of advice pertaining even to all Prosecutors, included the following: to always strive for integrity; to effectively prepare court cases documents to avoid conflicts among the population, to abhor any kind of corruption and to fight every kind of injustice.

The Premier requested the Prosecution sector to focus more on cases of people who are suspected to have committed serious crimes that affect the state’s properties and those of private institutions, and those that obstruct development of the Rwandan society at large. 

Some of these cases include:

• Misappropriation and embezzlement of both public and private funds (banks other financial institutions and cooperative funds);

• Drug use and trafficking;

• Children sexual abuse and human traffic;

• As well as money laundering crimes.

The Premier promised to the sworn-in Prosecutors, good collaboration and continuous support of the Government of Rwanda for the better fulfillment of their responsibilities.
