Rwanda hosts the 49th Annual General Assembly of African Airlines Association
Kigali, 13 November 2017 – Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente officially opened the 49th Annual General Assembly of the African Airlines Association at the Kigali Convention Centre.
Speaking at this occasion, Premier Ngirente thanked African Governments and airlines for their efforts to improve the African aviation industry.
He further urged them to harmonize operations that include airport taxes, improve and expand aviation infrastructure and train the required personnel.
“To promote intra Africa trade, African Countries should facilitate and offer visas upon arrival. This will increase the number of air passengers and cargo levels. It is our call that, countries which have not yet signed the 1999 Yamoussoukro Decision concerning the liberalization of access to air transport markets in Africa do so as a matter of urgency.” PM Ngirente said.
Convened under the theme “Rethinking strategies for airline profitability in Africa” the meeting brought together African airlines top executives, industry manufacturers, service providers and other stakeholders in aviation across Africa and the world.
