"Rwanda is a competitive destination for investment” PM Murekezi

Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi said that Rwanda is a competitive destination for investment as doing business in the country is being made easier every day.

He made the remarks yesterday 20th February 2017 during the India-Rwanda Business Forum that was also attended by India’s Vice President Hamid Ansari at the Kigali Convention Centre.

Prime Minister Murekezi called upon Indian investors to explore business opportunities that Rwanda offers such as education, energy, agriculture and healthcare.
“I encourage all Indian investors to go beyond investment in traditional fields, and explore new areas such as in manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. Our new textile industry, as well as irrigated agriculture and agro-processing would also benefit extensively from India’s expertise.” Said Prime Minister Anastase Murekezi.
The Premier revealed that Rwanda has zero tolerance for corruption as the 2017 Corruption Perception Index (CPI) ranks Rwanda as the 3rd least corrupt Country in Sub Saharan Africa.
During this forum, 3 agreements were signed by Rwanda and India and these are bilateral air service agreement between Rwanda and India, Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of an Entrepreneurship Development Centre as well as an agreement for the exemption of visa requirements for diplomatic and service passport holders.
Rwanda and India enjoy bilateral relations since 1999 which has grown over the years in multiple aspects including trade, investments and international cooperation among others.
