“Unity and Reconciliation is the foundation for sustainable development” PM Murekezi

Unity and Reconciliation must continue to be upheld as the foundation of sustainable and accelerated development for our Country.

Prime Minister made the statement while opening the consultative meeting for the launch of a Unity and Reconciliation Forum at Nyaruguru District, on 23rd June 2017.

The Premier said that this Forum, which was initiated by Unity Club, will facilitate particularly current and former leaders to work together as people who share common vision of safeguarding and upholding the progress registered by Rwanda, through activities promoting unity and reconciliation.

“The value of team work spirit and leadership of all time whereby one remains a leader whether one holds position of leadership or not, which is the cornerstone of Unity Club, generated the idea of bringing together in one forum, current and former leaders from different levels of administration along with Abarinzi b’Igihango/ protectors of friendship pact in all Districts and Sectors across the Country since July 1994.” Prime Minister Murekezi said.

He urged participants in the consultative meeting to embrace Ndi Umunyarwanda Program as the most assured and sustainable way to help Rwandans to continue to work as one and refuse to die another time.

Prime Minister Murekezi said that in order to achieve this, Unity Club, Intwararumuri/torchbearers, calls to include in all District and Sector Performance Contracts 2017-2018, activities to promote Unity and Reconciliation Forum.

Unity Club is a forum of current and former Government members and their spouses, established on 19/07/1994, when the transitional government was formed. It was initiated and chaired by the First Lady, Jeannette Kagame.
