"We need your support to achieve national food security" PM Ngirente

Burera, 8th December, 2019 - Prime Minister Dr Edouard Ngirente has called upon the public servants in charge of the agriculture sector, to support the Government in achieving the country's food security.

He made the call in Nkumba, Burera District, while addressing around one thousand trainees who completed a two weeks training, commonly known as Itorero, organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Itorero Commission.

Before closing this Itorero, Prime Minister Ngirente held interactions with participants on the strategies to improve the extension services and sector coordination.

Prime Minister Dr Ngirente urged the trainees to use maximum energy while performing their daily duties.

"You are the ones in charge of following up and realizing the extension services in the agriculture sector, I want you to focus on the agricultural value chain, from seed multiplication, planting, to the post-harvest process," Prime Minister Ngirente said.

Some of  the raised questions during the interactive session between the Prime Minister and public servants in the agricultural sector were; a timely delivery of seeds, fertilizers and its better use to avoid delays, coordination issues, to mention but a few.

Prime Minister thanked the trainees for their ideas and opinions about the agriculture sector and he also promised them a close follow up and solution to the raised questions.
